Giving Tree Program
This program was developed to provide a little extra special gift for Westerly’s children during the holiday season. Originally started in 2018 in partnership with the Savoy Bookshop & Cafe and the Jonnycake Center the Giving Tree Program takes place during the month of December.
Recently our partnership with the Savoy Bookshop & Changed has changed due to their recent closing — however, we are looking to see how we may partner with others in purchasing the books for this worthy cause. We look toward the local community to support this effort by visiting the bookstore and purchasing a book or two of their choice from the children’s section. Books are collected, sorted by reading level, bookplates placed inside, and at the end of the month are delivered to the host organization for distribution to the children. In 2019, we began working directly with The Jonnycake Center and their winter holiday program The support we have received for this program has put smiles on the faces of many children!
